Short CV
Nikos Tsiknakis holds a MEng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras. During his MEng thesis he worked with Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) on satellite images for cloud height estimation using stereo vision techniques. He then joined the Computational BioMedicine Laboratory (CBML) of ICS FORTH in October 2019 and has worked on two EU Horizon 2020 projects, InSilc and SeeFar, on medical image registration on IVUS and OCT intravascular images and deep learning analysis of retina fundus images. In addition, he has worked on chest X-Ray images for COVID-19 detection using deep learning. He has received the Gold Award at the Healthcare Business Awards 2020 for the paper “Interpretable artificial intelligence framework for COVID‑19 screening on chest X‑rays”. His interests relate to medical image analysis (i.e. image registration, radiomics feature extraction, etc.), deep learning, statistics and biomedical engineering in general.
